Meta Livly: Customization
If you’ve seen some snippets of Meta Livly (either on our Twitter or previous Medium post), you’ll see that it revolves around a home base (referred to an island), a customizable avatar (referred to as a hom), and the special digital pets (called livlies) that you can care for.
At this point, you might be thinking to yourself, “it’s just a simple digital pet game, what’s there to write a whole article about?” and we’re here to say that it’s so much more than that.
You’ll be a part of a much bigger mission with Meta Livly with the option to even make some money on the side (talk about the best of both worlds)!
So what exactly is a “hom”? And what do we do with an “island” on Meta Livly?
Let’s break it down!
What is a “hom”?
The hom is where the heart is. In case you’re wondering, that isn’t a typo.
“Hom” comes from the term homunculus, which means a miniature human being. Here at Meta Livly, rather than a physical mini version, your “hom” is a virtual extension of yourself in a miniature format that’s in scale with the livlies to ensure that you can fully enjoy what Meta Livly has to offer!
Although your hom is an extension of yourself in a virtual miniature format, you don’t have to customize your hom to look like you! There are tons of different themes and items that you can use to customize your hom to the style you want. We’ll talk more about customization later on.
Additionally, in order for you to start your virtual adventure with Meta Livly, you’ll have to connect your mind to the virtual body of your hom so that you can full autonomy of what your hom does and where your hom moves. So rather than a simple avatar, your hom is an actual alternate version of yourself! How cool is that?!
What is an “island”?
Have you ever thought about your dream home?
Try decorating your digital island to fit your dream home aesthetic because it’ll be where your hom and livly will call home.
There are tons of different styles and items that you can utilize to create your perfect digital dream home with Meta Livly!
You can customize everything from the flower beds, accessories, background, the island itself, the trees that you can harvest later on, and even the background music. The options are endless with what Meta Livly has to offer.

There are a variety of themed clothes, accessories, and decorations available through the Mahara Shop.
The way that you can get items in Meta Livly is through gachas. For those who are unfamiliar with gachas and how they work, it’s essentially a draw where items have different probabilities in drop rate so you don’t know what you’re going to get.
For each theme, there are hom specific (clothing and accessories) gachas, island specific (decoration) gachas, or a combination of both.
You’ll be able to check the item list and the rarity of the items through the shop, but we’ll cover that later on.
Spin the gacha once to get one item or spin it 10 times consecutively in order to get 10 items with a guarantee of 1 or more rare item.
After you get the items that you want, you can customize your assets however you’d like.

At the end of the day, your hom and your island are your digital assets so you can mix and match however you want.
Go for a pastel and lovely theme, or a dark gothic vibe, or even a very realisitic decor! The sky is the limit to creating a digital space that your hom and livly can fully enjoy.
